• Dr Palme is Professor and Joint Head of Discipline ENT at the Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney.
• Dr Palme is a senior ENT Head Neck Surgeon at Westmead Private Hospital.
• Dr Palme is the Director of Head Neck Surgery and Head of Surgical Services at the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse Cancer Centre, NSW largest and busiest head and neck cancer unit. 
• Dr Palme is founder and Director of the Regional Head Neck Access Program at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Cancer Centre with Clinics in Port Macquarie, Tamworth, Orange and Nowra.
• Dr Palme is a founding member and director of Head and Neck Cancer Australia - formerly Beyond Five, Australia's first patient focused website dedicated to head and neck cancer.
• Dr Palme has public  appointments at Royal Prince Alfred and Westmead Hospitals.

Clinical Expertise:

Dr Palme has an interest in Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery, Salivary Gland Tumors, Voice & Airway Laser surgery and in the management of complex Head and Neck ( Mouth, Throat, Voice Box ) Cancer including advanced skin cancer. Dr Palme is a recognised expert in minimally invasive surgery of the head and neck.

Biography:

After attending medical school at the University of Sydney Dr Palme completed four years of advanced training in Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery and obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2002.

Dr Palme completed post-training fellowships in the American Head and Neck Society Head and Neck Oncology Program, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada and in Laser Head and Neck Surgery, University of Goettingen, Goettingen, Germany. Dr Palme was trained by two of the international giants in the field of Head Neck Surgery, Professors Patrick Gullane ( Toronto, Canada ) and Wolfgang Steiner ( Goettingen, Germany )

Dr Palme is the inaugural recipient in 2009 of the Chris O’Brien Travelling Fellowship of the American Head and Neck Society. In 2010 Dr Palme was awarded the Coman Kennedy Laser Scholarship by the Australian and New Zealand Head Neck Society. The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons honoured Dr Palme in 2012 with an " Outstanding Achievement Award ".

Dr Palme is active in clinical research and has authored many peer reviewed publications, book chapters and books on head neck cancer and surgery. Dr Palme is a regular invited speaker at both national and international meetings. Dr Palme has a strong interest in training and education. Dr Palme has mentored many local and international surgeons.
